Cemetery Family Service Associate
Job Summary
The Cemetery Family Service Associate will be responsible for all cemetery sales and provide administrative support to families, funeral home(s), and cemetery personnel in their designated market. This includes assisting families with purchasing memorial property and merchandise before and after the need arises. This individual is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service to our client families.

- Responsible for the sales and services in the cemeteries but may occasionally meet at a client family’s home.
- Responsible for making certain the cemetery arrangement offices are “family ready” at any given time. Maintain cleanliness of reception area, administrative areas, break room and bathroom areas within the cemetery office.
- Responsible for ordering and ensuring specific office supplies are on hand.
- Track temporary markers while maintaining a marker list and decide with either Manager or Grounds Superintendent which markers are to be pulled.
- Responsible for developing and following up on leads, either self-generated or received from other reliable, company-approved sources.
- Well informed of cemetery rules & regulations, knowledge of cemetery grounds, and cemetery markers. Must be the “go to” person on various cemetery questions and can problem solve when necessary.
- Organize and conduct public seminars in concert with delivery of aftercare services.
- Assist in the development of after-care and seminar resources for cemeteries, funeral home and community.
- Must meet minimum monthly sales expectations established by Division Director.
- While the main emphasis of this position is the selling of pre-need products and services, you must be available during specified office hours to handle walk-in and immediate need clients.
- Must remain well informed and educated on the benefits of pre-arrangement and possess the ability to pass this information on to client families.
- Must be able to utilize tools given to generate sales, procure leads to increase sales, and close a sale.
- Must develop positive relationships with all funeral home associates, local churches, nursing homes, hospitals, and hospice providers.
- Must possess knowledge of the funeral rites, ceremonies and customs associated with various religions, always confirming the information with the clergy at the time the service is pre-arranged.
- Must be very knowledgeable of general price lists and merchandise price lists for cemetery and be able to answer all questions concerning prices and merchandise within the requirements of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules.
- Enter cemetery contracts in Nexus, and maintain all property files, contracts, lot cards, interment cards, etc. with accuracy.
- Provide notary public services as needed.
- Remain up to date on company learning, policies, and procedures as assigned.
- Other business-related duties as assigned..
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Previous cemetery sales or industry experience preferred
- Basic office skills including computer skills and knowledge
- Good people skills with ability to relate to a wide range of people
- Attention to detail with effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work independently on ongoing projects.
- Ability to work under time constraints and conform with established schedules and deadlines.
- Possess a valid Drivers’ License and meet the driving performance standards as determined by management. MVR’s may be reviewed annually for compliance, and any conviction or at-fault accidents should be immediately reported to management.
