Our History
In today's world of large corporations and ever-increasing prices, we are proud to be able to serve families with the highest caliber of personal service, continuing a family tradition established in 1893. You have our word that we will continue to work faithfully to uphold the family heritage that has served families so well.

Where it all began
We trace our roots to the early 1890’s when D.W. Newcomer, a sash and door maker, was called upon to construct a coffin for a close friend. This brief encounter led Mr. Newcomer to enter funeral service by opening D.W. Newcomer’s Undertaking and Livery Service in Kansas City, Missouri in 1893.

A tradition continues
D.W.'s son, David, followed in his father's footsteps into funeral service and expanded the family's funeral home in 1925.
David's son Warren served in the United States Navy in World War II, joining the family's funeral home upon his return home.

An expanding legacy
David's son Warren J. "Ren" Newcomer, Jr., earned his funeral director's license in 1971. Over the ensuing decades, Ren, along with his wife Theresa, established Newcomer Funeral Service Group as a highly-reputable funeral home and cemetery firm.

Today...and beyond
Ren and Theresa's children, Maggie and John, are fifth-generation funeral directors, and Newcomer Funeral Service Group now includes funeral homes and cemeteries in ten states. The Newcomer family's heritage of excellence in funeral service will continue to guide our company into the future.

Our Core Values
Throughout its history, our company has always been characterized by the pursuit of Excellence in everything we do, a relationship of Trust with the families we serve, Care for our associates and our communities, and the ongoing pursuit of Growth both as individuals and as a company.
These four values serve as points on a compass, guiding our daily actions and decisions, helping us to always do the right thing.
