Job Summary

The Learning & Development Coordinator will support the delivery of Newcomer Funeral Service Group’s learning solutions and events by helping the team launch, communicate, create, deliver, and evaluate learning and development programs. Major focus areas of this position include coordinating in-person events, maintaining materials for online learning and administering users in the company’s learning management systems.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  3. Remain up to date on Paycom reading as assigned.
  4. Become knowledgeable with all aspects of the funeral industry in general and specifically the roles within Newcomer Funeral Service Group.
  5. Pre-event administration and support
    a. coordinate travel, catering, supplies, room preparation, off-site training venues, etc.
    b. communicate with participants, vendors, facilitators and others involved with the event
    c. prepare materials – prepare handouts/binders, activity set-up and coordination
    d. Coordinate and deliver virtual pre-event sessions
    e. Track event preparation tasks, assign tasks to others, ensure all preparation tasks are completed timely and with excellence
  6. Event administration and support
    a. Arrive early to set-up event – materials, snacks/drinks, technology needs
    b. Set-up and clean-up after meals and activities
    c. Support the needs of participants throughout the event
    d. Assist facilitation of event activities or presentations
  7. Post-event administration and support
    a. Breakdown training room/activities
    b. Assign post-event learning and track progress
    c. Maintain and update event materials
  8. Support the development of new content and updates to existing content:
    a. Create job-aids
    b. Create/edit/modify digital images
    c. Create/edit/modify digital video content
    d. Review/modify/test eLearning and classroom materials/activities
    e. Assist with the development of training materials as needed
  9. Manage eLearning and onboarding content, identifying needed content updates to maintain alignment with current business and procedures and policies.
  10. Administer the learning management system (Paycom), upload new content, monitor completions and reporting, ensure new associates receive the correct assignments, upload new or updated content and troubleshoot technical issues/concerns.
  11. Maintain building/training room needs – order supplies, coordinate vendors, maintenance requests, ensure public areas stocked with necessary supplies
  12. Process invoices for payment.
  13. Assist with evaluating effectiveness of learning activities and tracking expenses for events/projects.
  14. Independently solve problems related to role.
  15. Assist Director of Learning and Development with special projects as requested.
  16. Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order. This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.

Educational, Licensure and Skill Requirements

• A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school preferred.
• Three (3) years of similar or related administrative experience.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot and solve problems related to role.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Strong organization and time management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Strong technology and software proficiencies with the ability to quickly learn Learning Management Software and/or graphic/video/audio creation and editing software (i.e. Camtasia, Audacity, Adobe Illustrator)
