Learning & Development Specialist

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for designing and developing superior-quality eLearning programs to support the rollout and implementation of policies and operational procedures, software installations and upgrades and other Company initiatives. The Learning & Development Specialist will also develop high-quality training content for instructor-led courses, tool kits, and job aids, for both technical and behavior-based skills. Additionally, this position will facilitate both technical and behavioral-skills courses online and in the classroom.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  3. Remain up-to-date on Paycom reading as assigned.
  4. Become knowledgeable with all aspects of the funeral industry in general and specifically the roles within Newcomer Funeral Service Group.
  5. Identify potential training solutions and conduct effective needs analysis to design and develop innovative and engaging training including: eLearning, virtual, self-paced, field-based and face-to-face.
  6. Design and develop training materials including job aids, participant workbooks, facilitator guides, training event flyers, and training handouts.
  7. Develop quality eLearning modules utilizing rapid-development software, image/video/audio creation and editing tools, as well as other eLearning technologies.
  8. Independently manage multiple projects from conception through implementation and evaluation.
  9. Facilitate instructor-led technical and behavioral-skills development training sessions.
  10. Assist with the preparation and on-going support for face-to-face learning events.
  11. Manage Learning Management Software content, upload new content, monitor completions and reporting, ensure new associates receive the correct assignments, upload new or updated content and troubleshoot technical issues/concerns.
  12. Collaborate with business partners and subject matter experts to develop relevant content and to launch new training programs specific to processes and procedures.
  13. Provide coaching and in-field training specific to learning and development initiatives for associates.
  14. Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order. This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.

Educational and Skill Requirements

• A college degree or multi-craft skills acquired through extensive on-the-job training or in-depth industry and job specific technical skills acquired through a combination of formal instruction and on-the-job training. Demonstrated field experience in instructional design and facilitation can substitute for degree
• A minimum of three years of similar or related experience
• Functional knowledge and experience using rapid development e-learning programs and tools
• Must be an active listener with strong comprehension skills
• Must be able to communicate effectively—both orally and in writing—with the subject-matter experts, course participants, and all levels of management
• Must be able to identify and recommend training/instructional methodologies appropriate for learners
• Must be service oriented, actively looking for ways to help our associates develop
• Possess working knowledge of learning management system
• Must be able to manage multiple projects and work with various partners to achieve the desired outcome in adherence with a specified time schedule.
• Must be able to adapt to shifts in priority and have the ability to adjust workload to meet deadlines.

• Experience with Learning Management Software
