Financial Accountant

Job Summary

Our Financial Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Controller to ensure smooth operations of the accounting department.  This position is responsible for providing financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts, preparing preliminary general ledger, and preparing reports.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  3. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  4. Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolve discrepancies.
  5. Reconcile bank accounts and prepare related entries for the general ledger.
  6. Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or company standards.
  7. Be a visible leader promoting teamwork to ensure team is as efficient as possible.
  8. Create and maintain operational reporting from the accounting system.
  9. Identify errors and suggest and implement solutions and/or methods to improve efficiency.
  10. Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules.
  11. Assist with maintaining fixed asset records.
  12. Complete and submit sales tax forms monthly, quarterly, and annually for multiple states.
  13. Prepare and file property tax reports for multiple states.
  14. Perform other business-related duties as assigned.
  15. Remain current on company policy and assigned training.
  16. Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order.  This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.

Educational and Skill Requirements

  • A four-year college degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years demonstrated accounting experience.
  • Great Plains Accounting Software experience or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience with an emphasis in audit is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
  • Good people skills with ability to relate to a wide range of people.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to ensure work is complete and accurate.
  • Ability to manage time effectively in order to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and conform with established schedules and deadlines.
