Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary

Our Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, vendor management and corporate credit card reconciliations.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  3. Process and analyze accounts payable invoices in a timely manner.
  4. Code such items as invoices, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct date and GL codes to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
  5. Handle all vendor correspondence.
  6. Maintain vendor addresses and W-9.
  7. Assist in preparing and submitting Annual 1099s.
  8. Review and reconcile vendor statements.
  9. Help prepare and maintain reconciliation of funeral advances.
  10. Be a visible leader promoting teamwork to ensure team is as efficient as possible.
  11. Identify errors; suggest and implement solutions and/or methods to improve efficiency.
  12. Perform other business-related duties as assigned.
  13. Remain current on company policy and assigned training.
  14. Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order.  This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.

Educational and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years demonstrated accounting experience.
  • Great Plains Accounting Software experience or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
  • Good people skills with ability to relate to a wide range of people.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to ensure work is complete and accurate.
  • Ability to manage time effectively in order to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and conform with established schedules and deadlines.
